Marketing Notes, Week Ending 3/2

Webinars, a good idea?

“Corey, what do you think about webinars? A good idea?”

Yes, if you can generate an audience, they're still a very good idea, but here's the thing: Your ultimate goal needs to be to instill confidence and inspiration (talk to them), not education and in-depth slides (talking at them).

When you saw the word webinar I guarantee your mind went straight to live, online ppt presentation—Right?

If you want to host a webinar, here’s the structure to keep you grounded and your audience engaged:

  • Intro slide: Who you are, what you do, who you work with, your @handles (“Today we’re going to cover the three most common situations/challenges that we’re running into with our clients. If you have questions, which I encourage and will gladly answer, please DM them to me during the presentation or make a note to yourself and we’ll carve out time at the end for all the Qs.”)

  • Specific topics we’re going to cover today

  • Topic 1: Light on the supporting text

  • Topic 1a: Three bullets to accompany your explanation

  • Topic 2: Light on the supporting text

  • Topic 2a: Three bullets to accompany your explanation

  • Topic 3: Light on the supporting text

  • Topic 3a: Three bullets to accompany your explanation

  • Close slide: Your @handles and who you work with (“I hope this was helpful for you guys. If there’s one thing I ask it’s that you consider connecting with me (various platforms) and most importantly that you join my newsletter. I send my newsletter (frequency) and this is how I add the most value consistently. Please check it out. Finally, if this inspired you or may be valuable to someone close to you, please get in touch with me, we’re currently taking on great new clients and I’d love to help if I can.”

  • Questions: (Keep the @handles and email newsletter slide up!) Have a few canned questions in your back pocket in the event you don’t get any from your live audience.

Remember to laugh, have fun, mix in relatable stories and personal situations. This is a time and place to show your personality and showcase your expertise.

Notes are great, but if you need a script you don’t know enough about the topic…

Confidence is what converts 🔄

Good luck.

If you found this helpful and have friends, colleagues, or family in financial services that might benefit from reading a few raw marketing notes every week, I’d be thrilled if you shared this with them.

I hope you have a great week, thanks for reading.
