Marketing Notes, Week Ending 9/21

Quick 5-min exercise (requires honesty)

Let’s ask ourselves some hard questions tonight:

Where do you consume content?

What do you consume?

What about it do you like and what makes it consumable?

Okay fine, so you’re not your audience…

Let’s bring them into it:

Who are your ideal clients (think of their demo / avatar…)

Picture them right now, what are they doing?

Maybe couch scrolling, sitting in bed scrolling / half watching TV?

What app are they scrolling, where are they consuming content?

Here’s the honest Qs I need you to answer:

  1. Are you on that / those platforms?

  2. If not why?

  3. If yes, does your content penetrate the noise in their feed and is it high-quality enough to be consistently consumed?

Here’s the conversation I’m having way too much of right now: 

“Yes, I’m on the right platforms and I’m putting out the right message, but conversations are not coming in”

Real talk: It might be time to look in the mirror

  • Maybe realize your stuff’s just not that good

  • You’re in fact not on the right platform(s)

  • Your consistency isn’t enough 

  • You haven’t been patient enough

Here’s the real-real (I see it everyday):

If you do it right, you will win new business. Doing it right isn’t easy.
